Inna Šteinbuka, Head of European Commission representation office in Latvia
Starting from September 1, 2011 Inna Šteinbuka is Head of the European Commission Representation in Latvia. Mrs. Šteinbuka started her career in the European Commission already in 2005 when she was holding the position of Director for Economic and Regional Statistics at Eurostat. In 2009 she became Director for Social and Information Society Statistics at Eurostat.From 2001 until 2005 Inna Šteinbuka was Chairperson of the Public Utilities Commission of the Republic of Latvia. From 1999 until 2001 she was working as Advisor to Executive Director of International Monetary Fund in Washington. From 1991 until 1999 Mrs. Šteinbuka was working at the Ministry of Finance, first as Head of Research Unit (1991 – 1993), later as Director of Economic Analysis and Fiscal Policy Department (1993 – 1999) and Advisor to the Minister of Finance (1999).Inna Šteinbuka holds a PhD in Economics and since 1997 has been working as professor at the University of Latvia. Since 1998 she is also member of the Latvian Academy of Science.On November 18th, 2008 Inna Šteinbuka received the highest state award - Three Stars Order (3rd degree) for the distinguished achievements in the economy and finance.
